Irene, 1901 Oldsmobile Replica

I was looking at Craigslist one day and saw a 1901 Oldsmobile for sale in North Carolina. Terry B, built this car from plans in 4 months. It was for sale. I felt that it looked more realistic than my Bliss. I talked to Terry about it and bought it. Below is information Terry sent to Horseless Carriage Replica Newsletter.

The wheels and tires are from a motor cycle, the engine is a two cylinder kohler. the transmission is a 5 speed manual from a Honda garden tractor.

The workmanship is great. Terry is a true craftsman. I did put a new V belt in it. That V belt serves as the clutch between the engine and transmission. The seats are button tufted leather. The body is painted with Dupont Nason and clear coated.

The kohler engine starts very easily. It has a foot clutch and there is a hand throttle on the shift lever. The Honda transmission is a little hard to shift.

I have taken Irene to several car shows. I go to informal car shows at churches and nursing homes.
